Let’s be honest, nobody really expected a different outcome, did they? Flattuso’s departure has just been confirmed by the ever-reliable source of Gunners Live here on WordPress.com (Check the site for some great player profiles of potential replacements):

It’s official, Mathieu Flamini has left Arsenal after a career with The Gunners that spanned just under 4 years.

AC Milan vice-chairman Adriano Galliani yesterday confirmedthat Flamini was set to sign a four-year contract with the Rossoneri on Sunday, and there’s a photo doing the roundsof Flamini in an Italian restaurant just to prove it.

I’d like to wish Mathieu good luck with his move to Milan and hope he turns out to be as successful in Serie A as he’s been in the Premier League this season. Thanks for the memories Matty

Flamini’s departure may not leave us with the void that Vieira’s or Henry’s did, but he was still an important player, especially this season. He’ll be missed, but he’s not irreplaceable. We’ll just have to wait and see who Wenger signs to take up his position.  The possibility of Diaby as a ready-made replacement has been mentioned in some circles, and given his Vieira-like appearance and skills, this could prove the best option of all.

Agreed, a profit would of been nice, but in the long run there are more important players to the clubs future.
